The University of Arkansas' Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design offers several
of the finest undergraduate professional design degrees in the South.
History
The Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design began in 1946-47 as architecture courses
within the College of Engineering, with John G. Williams teaching 17 students, including
future faculty members Fay Jones and Ernie Jacks.

The Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design was ranked 19th in the nation overall – and eighth among public universities – for 2013 in the annual survey of “America’s Best Architecture and Design Schools" published in the November/December 2012 issue of DesignIntelligence.
The project that renovated Vol Walker Hall and added the Steven L. Anderson Design Center was awarded LEED Gold certification and won a 2018 AIA Honor Award for Architecture.
