The National 9/11 Memorial

"Structured Forest: The Trees of the National 9/11 Memorial"

Matt Donham is a partner at PWP Landscape Architecture, has worked on the National 9/11 Memorial for eight years. He drew schematic design studies and built some of the first landscape models before moving into a design management role on the project. He coordinated staff and consultants, and attended and eventually led countless meetings over the extended implementation of the unparalleled politically and physically complex project. Last summer, he oversaw final installation details in preparation for the opening ceremony of the memorial on Sept. 11, 2011.

In his time at PWP, which is based in Berkeley, Calif., Donham has led numerous large collaborative design teams while maintaining client, press and public agency relationships out of the firm’s New York City office.

Matt received a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies from Vassar College and a Master in Landscape Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley.

Donham will present a lecture titled “Structured Forest: The Trees of the National 9/11 Memorial" at 1:30 p.m. April 23 in Hembree Auditorium, in the Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences Building (Room 107E), at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.
